Aurora Browne
Aurora Browne is one of Canada's busiest and most talented comediennes. A gifted actress, Browne brings years of theater training to her comedic take on the world. Her performances are a mix of sunny charm and dark, twisted humor. Her commitment to her unique characters results in what Eye Weekly called, "absurd verisimilitude." Whether she is playing a too-perfect mom or a sadistic princess, Browne takes her characters as far as they will go and then some.
Browne started her career in comedy when, on a whim, she signed up with a friend for an improv course. She was swiftly recruited by sketch troupe Urban Myth and began performing regularly in Toronto's thriving comedy scene. Her solo work began attracting attention, and in 2000 she was hired by The Second City Mainstage, a troupe that has produced comedy superstars like Gilda Radner, Catherine O'Hara, Mike Myers and Colin Mochrie.
During her three years with The Second City, Browne continued to be in demand outside of the troupe. She additionally continues to perform regularly in red-hot improv shows Monkey Toast, The Neutrino Project, Catch 23, The Girrlz Show, and has guest-starred in other comedy shows like The Chick and Cubby Comedy Hour, The March of Dames, The Eclectic Circus, The Jack Miller Show, and many more.
Loved by audiences and critics alike, Browne has also been nominated for numerous awards. In 2000, she was nominated for the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award. As part of the Second City troupe she won the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Sketch Troupe as well as Best Sketch Show, and individually she has been nominated for Best Female Improviser.
Browne's television credits include The Eleventh Hour, Corner Gas, Comedy Now! (Women of the Night), The Gavin Crawford Show and Cream of Comedy. She also hosts Comedy Now! Women of the Night Part II.
Aurora is a Virgo. She enjoys long walks in the country and science fiction.
