Brian Schodorf
Brian Schodorf is a television and film producer, director, and writer with 19 Regional Emmy Nominations and 6 Regional Emmy Awards. In 2020 Schodorf led all individual media professionals in the Chicago/Midwest markets with 5 Regional Emmy Awards for creating the documentary program, "Chicago at the Crossroad," an exploration into historical housing segregation in Chicago. Of a total of 7 nominations, the feature film won Emmy's for Directing, Writing, Cinematography, Cultural Documentary, and Promotions at the 2020 Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards. In addition, Schodorf was awarded 8 national Telly Awards in 2021 including the only awardee in the nation to garner a Gold Telly Award for Television Writing.
In 2012 Schodorf produced the biographical film "The Wayman Tisdale Story" which aired on PBS, ESPN and NBA-TV and won a Heartland Emmy Award for Best Topical Documentary. Schodorf was named the Media Professional of the Year in his home state of Kansas by the Topeka Capital Journal in the same year. Schodorf has developed a trademark style of tackling social issues and revealing the interconnectedness of politics, social systems, and the human heart.
His first documentary, "Poverty in Chicago," aired nationally in 2007 on PBS and The Documentary Channel; the film investigated the homelessness epidemic in downtown Chicago. His second documentary film, Greensburg (2008), the story of a small Kansas town devastated by a tornado was nominated for a Heartland Emmy Award for Best Topical Documentary. Schodorf spearheaded the development of the Video Production Division for the City of Chicago's tourism and marketing arm, Choose Chicago. He served 6 years leading the department prior to launching his video production agency Schodorf Media in 2018 - working with clients in various industry verticals across the country. He is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelors Degree in Television Production and a Masters Degree in Media Management.
