Damian John Harper
Damian John Harper was born in 1978 in Boulder Colorado, USA. After he received his B.A. in Anthropology (Magna Cum Laude) he worked as an ethnologist with the Zapotecs in Oaxaca, Southern Mexico than later as an under water cave dive instructor in Brazil. In 2012 he finished his studies at the University of TV and Film in Munich Germany. with his short fiction Teardrop, which tells of a brutal gang initiation filmed in 5 seamless plan-sequences from the protagonists P.O.V. The short was invited to over 50 international competitions around the globe and won several prizes.
In 2013 his first feature screenplay Los Ángeles was a Berlinale Talent Project Market participant, an Academy of Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting Quarterfinalist and later commissioned for theatrical release by ZDF with it's world premier at the 64th Berlinale in 2014.
Damian's sophomore project In The Middle Of The River, a family drama set in the desert of the American Southwest, was penned at the prestigious Cannes Residence du Festival, commissioned for theatrical release by ZDF/ARTE and premiered at the Munich Film Festival in 2018 where it received the German Cinema New Talent Award for best Screenplay.
