Dylan Hobbs
An actor and producer known for smooth intellect and heavy emotional draw, first-time director Dylan Hobbs's most widely recognized role may be Cyrus in Joker Rising (2013). In the western film Skull Rock (2018), his portrayal of Boone Blackpool, an epileptic rancher set in 1881, helped the film be chosen to screen at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase in Los Angeles, as well as the short film corner of the Cannes Film Festival. Hobbs recently directed his first pilot project The Clause (2021), in which he portrays Danny Helm, a hard-edged assassin for hire. Hobbs also wrote and executive produced the episodic.
Dylan Hobbs was born in Evansville, Indiana, and was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is the son of Barbara Helm (Hoosier Millionaire), and Randall Hobbs, a construction entrepreneur. At Center Grove High School, Hobbs was involved in baseball, football, and theater. Hobbs attended Purdue University, where he majored in health and fitness with a focus on theater and communications. Known as a bit of a goofball, he graduated college in 2001 and two weeks later moved to Los Angeles. Hobbs supported himself as a personal fitness trainer, furniture mover, and bartender while pursuing acting.
Hobbs's earliest credited roles include daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives (1965), before appearing in the Lifetime film Killer Reality (2013), All I Want for Christmas (2013), and A Christmas Reunion (2015). His portrayal of Sergeant Phillips in She Was (2013), helped earned multiple festival awards including best acting.
Hobbs is a SAG-AFTRA member (2011) and a graduate of the 2nd City Conservatory (2017) in Hollywood. He is a veteran of comedy improvisation having studied with the late great Bernie Feldman. In addition to acting and comedy improvisation, Hobbs is a certified fitness coach and enjoys baseball, boxing, yoga, working out, and shooting pool.
Hobbs's portrayal of Detective Curtis in Where Birds Don't Fly (2017), helped establish him as a leading man. He went on to play Richard Vernum, a racist alt-right podcast king to the Aryan nation in Things Eternal (2018.) Hobbs then went on to reprise his role of the Joker in The Clown Prince (2019).
