Omar was born and raised in Rockland County, 20 minutes north of Manhattan to Nancy Torres (from the Bronx) and Omar Torres Sr.(from Brooklyn). He is of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent and completely fluent in Spanish.
From an early age, ice hockey, music and films were something that Omar was passionate about. He began skating at age four and eventually went on to spend several years bouncing around the pro minor league ice hockey circuit (USA/Europe). His first pro camp was with the NHL's Edmonton Oilers minor league affiliate, The Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League (CHL) in 2006.
At age 11 his parents bought him his first musical instrument. A drum set. After moving into an apartment, he switched over to learning guitar and singing. Since age 14 he has been in and out rock bands, playing live, writing and recording music. Those experiences lead him to study Audio Engineering at The Institute of Audio Research(IAR) in New York City.
After making the tough choice to leave the game of hockey behind, Omar began studying the craft of acting at various studios in New York City and working at CBS Radio(now Audacy) in 2009. After several years behind the scenes helping Nick Cannon's morning show and producing afternoon drive, he was promoted to On-Air Personality and can now be heard throughout the New York Tri-State area on 92.3 fm.
