Victor Gomez
Victor is and award winning Colombian/Canadian screenwriter, director, actor, creative producer, and host, with more than 30 years of experience in the film and TV industry in North and Latin America. He has an MFA in Theater Directing and Acting, from York University, an HBA in Journalism and Media Communications, and postgraduate studies in Film from Ryerson University, and Creative Writing, from Humber College.
In North American television he has carried out and developed main characters for series such us Ransom 3 (CBS/Corus/eOne); Always a Witch (Netflix); Pure 2 (Superchannel/WGN/Hulu), Best TV Series at Screen Nova Scotia Awards; the multiaward winner Orphan Black (BBC America); the two awards winner and seven times nominated of Canadian Screen Awards, Mary Kills People (Global/ Corus); the seven times nominated to the Gemeni, Across the River to Motor City (CHUM TV); The Gemini nominee for Best Dramatic Series, Bliss (Showcase / CBC); The life of Donald Trump, Ambition (ABC); Bad Blood 2 (City/Radio-Canada Télé/Rogers), Gigi (The Movie Network and Movie Central);Missing (Lifetime), Good Dog (HBO); Mayday (Discovery and Cineflex); and Covert Affairs (NBC-Universal).
In Hollywood and North American Films, to mention a few, he has performed in the Oscar nominee film Lars and The Real Girl, starred by Ryan Gosling; in Paromount's film about the renown rapper 50 Cent, Get Rich or Die Tryin', directed by Irish director (My Left Foot), Jim Sheridan; with Mickey Rourke, in the movie Blunt Force Trauma, by New York director Ken Sanzel; and more recently, in the Romania, Canada, Germany and Sweden Co-production of 'Lemonade', produced by Palm d'Or winner Cristian Mungiu.
In theatre, acclaimed by the critics during its North American Tour, his one-man-show Lizardboy, obtained the People's Choice Award at Summerworks Theatre Festival. He has also performed in the California's Rubicon Theatre and MTC's international co-production of The Night of the Iguana, where he shared the stage with Efrem Zimabilst Junior, remembered for his starring role in the 60's series FBI, and his daughter Stephanie Zimbalist, co-star with Pierce Brosnan of the renown series Remington Steel. And amongst many others, with Theatre@York he has performed in The Witch of Edmonton, Oedipus, Bobraushenbergamerica, Raul Julia's Romero, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and has directed the plays At the Beginning, From The Heart and his controverted Shakespeare's, Richard III.
He has directed as well more than half dozen films, including his short adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III, Ricardo Against Ricardo, Best Canadian Experimental at the Alucine Film Festival. Presently, Victor is developing the documentaries Dahiana, I am, Roses to Freedom, Searching For Oscar, and Digging for Justice, an investigation about the Guatemalan Genocide, with Nobel Peace Price Rigoberta Menchú.
Víctor is married to coach and marketing management specialist Carolina Rivillas, and is the happy father of 2 girls and 1 boy. He was born in Medellín, Colombia and is the oldest of the 9 brothers and sisters from his parents' two marriages. He grew up in a yoguis' family, were vegetarianism, astrology, and meditation was practiced, and where philosophy and spiritual development were the conversation every day.
His father was one of the first bioenergetics medical doctor in his country, his mother is a healer, his sister is one of the best well known Reiki teachers in Colombia, and his aunt is a writer and speaker on personal development and esoterism. However, since early age, he was inclined for acting and television, and at the age of 12 he started doing theatre and started working on TV with TV Cámaras, one of the first production companies of the novel regional channel Teleantioquia.
After becoming a successful TV Host, and studying Media Communications and Journalism at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Víctor moved to Bogotá to study acting at master Paco Barrero's school, Estudio XXI, and became a professional actor.
Soon, he achieved and extensive list of leading roles and supporting credits in theatre and TV, and was awarded as best regional actor for the series Hildebrando, and best comedic actor for the comedy La Familia del Alcalde, by the TVy Novelas Awards.
In the Latin-American market, after becoming a successful TV Host, in Colombia, and studying Media Communications and Journalism, Víctor studied acting at master Paco Barrero's school, Estudio XXI, and became a professional actor. He has worked in such well known Latin American shows, series and soaps such as Siempre Bruja (Netflix, Caracol), Celia (Telemundo, NBC-Universal y FOX Telecolombia), where he impersonated legendary Salsa start, Willie Colón). He has also developed characters in Las Esmeraldas, La Selección 2, Las Suegra, and 5 Viudas Sueltas (Sony Latino - Caracol TV); Mamá También (RCN TV); and some others as well remembered such as La Traga Maluca, Marido y Mujer, Todo que Ver, La Caponera, Divorciada, La Sombra del Arco Iris, Amores Como el Nuestro, and Hechizo
He was also the TV Host, scriptwriter and director of Todo que Ver (one of the Entertainment Magazines with the highest ratings in Colombian History); TV Host of reality TV show La Bella y el Nerdo (The Beauty and the Gig), of Noticiero ANT , and the TV Host and producer for Pantalla Gigante, amongst many other shows, and has hosted for TLN, Telelatino (Univisión Canada), Canal Caracol, Canal Uno, and Teleantioquia.
