Brian Joseph John Soszynski was born on January 29, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, USA where he was raised. His parents are Sylvester Soszynski and Mary Soszynski, both business owners. He has an older brother, John Soszynski, a Network Engineer in Skokie, Illinois. His ancestry is primarily Polish. His father was born just outside of Kraków, Poland. Brian was interested in the entertainment industry since the age of five, acting in plays any chance he had. He outlined his first script in eighth grade solidifying his passion for filmmaking. During his time at Columbia College Chicago Brian wrote, directed, and acted in dozens of student films. "I never really auditioned for roles, I was lucky enough to have a positive word of mouth on campus and people just asked me to be in their films. It was a very humbling experience." His thesis film (Till Death Do Us Part) was selected to partake in Columbia College's annual film festival. During his time at Columbia College, Brian met his wife, director/producer Kamelya Alexan who, till this day, continue to collaborate on a variety of projects. In 2007, Brian wrote and acted in a short film loosely based on Kamelya's cousin, who struggles with Schizophrenia. "One Simple Life" ended up having multiple sold out screenings in Skokie, IL along with radio and TV coverage. During this time Brian gained some experience as a Production Assistant on such films as The Dark Knight, The Express, and Fred Claus. In 2010, Brian wrote an award winning short film "Before The Fall", a fantasy film that takes place during the American Civil War. Premiering at the TCL Chinese Theatre, at the 17th Annual Beverly Hills Film Festival, the film garnered many awards and screenings around the world. In 2011, Brian took a hiatus from acting focusing full-time on screenwriting and film criticism. "I was bullied my entire life and always had a sense of insecurity with my physical appearance so I decided to take a backseat to being in front of the camera....for the time being." Since 2011, Brian and Kamelya have created a variety of projects including: Feature Films, Short Films, Documentaries, Commercials, Spec Spots, and Music Videos. Brian works for REEL Chicago Magazine and has since returned to acting.
