Daniel Rocha began his studies in performing arts in 2007, aged 17, at the renowned CPT (Center for Theatre Research), one of the most important training centers in Latin America, directed by Antunes Filho, one of the greatest theater directors in history. Daniel Rodríguez Risco is a Peruvian director, writer and producer. His first short film, El Colchón (The Mattress), received a Special Mention at the Cartagena IFF and the award for Best Short Film at Conacine (Peru). His next short, Triunfador (The Winner), was selected at the Festival du Court Métrages at Clermont-Ferrand and was distributed internationally by Canal-Plus. He received a scholarship to study a MFA in Film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After that, he directed Páramo (Moor), based on a short story by Italian author Alberto Moravia. His fourth short, El Diente de Oro (The Gold Tooth), won the Jury Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival, presided by Theo Angelopolous. Cuellos Almidonados (Starched Collars), his new short film, was shot during the pandemic, and is starting its festival route. He has directed four feature films. El Acuarelista (The Watercolorist), obtained a grant from the Global Film Initiative. His next film, El Vientre (The Womb), a coproduction with Explora Films (Spain), earned him a Best Director nomination at the Vancouver IFF. In 2016, he released the films No Estamos Solos (We Are Not Alone) and Siete Semillas (Seven Seeds), starring Javier Cámara.
