He made 'One Cannot Step into Same River Twice' which earned glowing reviews at the Cannes Film Festival and Florence Film Festival in 2010. "My Mother's Laptop" followed soon after, starring Suresh Gopi and Shweta Menon. Rupesh Paul also made three short films, Mrigam (The Beast), Pithavum Kanyakayum, and Kanni(The Virgin). The next year, he made his first international movie, 'The Secret Diaries of Monalisa'. Later, a chance meeting with Producer Sohan Roy at the Cannes led to another international movie, "Saint Dracula 3D" which was premiered at the Cannes in 2012. Kamasutra 3D, the mega dream project of Rupesh Paul came soon after. This movie broke records with the pre-sale of international rights at the Cannes in 2013. It also made its way to the Academy long-list in three categories, the only Indian movie to do so. At the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival, Rupesh Paul announced five movies- 36 MM 3D is Marilyn Monroe's biopic, The Monologues Of A Sex Maniac is about a boy feeling lost in a sexually resurgent India. Savita Barbie, a thriller, revolves around two warring gangs of the Mumbai underworld. The Vanishing Act: The Untold Story Of The Missing Malaysian Plane is a fictional account of what may have happened aboard a plane that recently went missing over the waters of the Indian Ocean and Kamasutra 3D is an erotic tale based on the ancient Indian epic of the same name. Of course, 'The Vanishing Act' created controversy the world over for the love triangle portrayed between the crew in the trailer. The filmmaker apologized and the matter went to rest.
