Ryan J. Haddad

Ryan J. Haddad is an actor, playwright, and autobiographical performer based in New York. His acclaimed solo play HI, ARE YOU SINGLE? was presented in The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival and continues to tour the country. Other New York credits include MY STRAIGHTIES (Ars Nova/ANT Fest), NOOR AND HADI GO TO HOGWARTS (Theater Breaking Through Barriers), and the cabaret FALLING FOR MAKE BELIEVE (Joe's Pub). Regional credits include THE MAIDS, Lucy Thurber's ORPHEUS IN THE BERKSHIRES (Williamstown Theatre Festival), and HI, ARE YOU SINGLE? (Guthrie Theater, Cleveland Play House, Williamstown Theatre Festival). He has a recurring role on the Ryan Murphy Netflix series "The Politician." Most notably, he's starred in the Sundance sponsored short film, Just A Kid from Seattle (2018), directed by, 3-Time VMA winner, Grammy nominated director Jonathan Augustavo. Ryan works to be the best and most accomplished actor of his generation and, with more than eight years of training and experience, he has the work ethic and passion needed to do so. Ryan's training ranges from acting workshops with Tony Award Winning Director Kenny Leon, and True Colors Theatre Company to prestigious conservatories, The Atlanta Workshop Players and New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. Ryan Jamaal Swain was born in Birmingham, Alabama and spent much of his childhood training at local theatre and dance companies. As a writer, in 2014, Swain wrote and starred in A Negro Writer, a one-man show about Langston Hughes and his life.In 2017, Swain was cast as Damon Richards in Ryan Murphy's FX television series Pose. The series premiered on June 3, 2018, and attracted critical acclaim. As a classically trained actor Ryan has performed on Broadway and Off Broadway. In 2019, he joined the cast of Academy Award Winner Tarell Alvin McCraney critically acclaimed 'Choir Boy', covering the lead role of Pharus. Among his favorite credits are his roles in Six Degrees of Separation " "Thoughts of a Colored Man, and Spring Awakening. Swain studied at Howard University, British American Drama Academy in Oxford U.K. Ryan is working on a semi-autobiographical young adult book and is an active advocate for civil rights and queer rights.
