Valerie Rose
Valerie Rose is an award-winning actor, producer, director, screenwriter, model/ voice over talent, author, and the CEO and founder of Roses Are READ Productions LLC and Picture's Up Academy, LLC, Rose served for seven years as Editor-in-Chief for Inside Region 3, a U.S. government publication. She has authored a number of books including Cappuccino in the Winter, The Family Reunion Is Not a Real Vacation (featuring The Triangleheads), Dream Your Dream: Getting Your Writing Out There! and the Minnesota Book Award nominee, You Better Recognize! A Spiritual Guide Because Life's a Trip! Rose is an Atlanta Acting Awards recipient and has appeared in a number of films including, Black, Dear White People, Tuscaloosa, and The Hunter, among others. She has also worked in television, appearing in ABC's In An Instant, Oprah's Greenleaf, Dynasty, Star, Chicago P.D. and The Chi, among others. Rose is an Eckhart Tolle scholarship winner and she was also a principal actor in the 2018 Emmy nominated, Grandbaby, produced by Josh Mundahl. Rose was also principal talent in "Find the Prince in You" campaign for Paisley Park. She is the creative concept creator, writer and producer for Hope Sessions, The Pink Visitor, The Triangleheads, and City Solace, among others. She also produced Just Escape, which aired on Minneapolis Television Network. Her films are in international distribution with Vuulr and DocsNow+ via a partnership between the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) and Synimatica. DocsNow+ built a new on-line streaming platform channel is dedicated to independent documentaries and animated works from around the world. Minnesota residents continue to seek change. On the day before police officers charged in George Floyd's murder go on trial, GOSPEL, a Minneapolis Global Live-Stream Event, partnered with Rose to screen segments of her documentary film, The Epicenter. Rizzle Studios selected three of her projects (City Solace, Hope Sessions, The Triangleheads) for streaming. Partnered with Catalyst Storieroad and sponsored by HBO, The National Academy of Television, Minnesota Film & TV and SAG-AFTRA, Rizzle.TV is the only vertical video app dedicated to working with creators to make high quality short series. She is on the verge of possibly signing a deal with a new content streaming channel focusing on Black made/focused media/art/film. Born and raised in Laredo Texas, Valerie always knew she wanted a career in the film industry. Since elementary school Valerie Salazar has won several awards for her outstanding performances in her hometown and school including U.I.L Competitions. Valerie left her hometown at the age of 17 and relocated to Los Angeles California after graduating a year early from high school to pursue a career in acting and film. Valerie's first television appearance was in 2009 on NBC Friday Night lights series. Since then Valerie has worked on several different projects including short films, commercials (H-E-B, Ancira, and Chilis) Reality and Television shows (Millionaire Matchmaker, FOX's - Pitch, The Last Ship, Modern Family) and feature films including Sanitarium, Machete Kills and Waiting for the storm, her first supporting role in a feature film. She is currently a student at The Groundlings theater in Los Angeles, California and is being represented in California and Louisiana.

Central to Florida State University's College of Motion Picture Arts longstanding success, Valerie Scoon has been a member of the faculty since 2003. Ms. Scoon teaches screenwriting, producing and documentaries. Her work has resulted in many students receiving Student Emmys, Oscar nominations and entry into innumerable film festivals. Most recently, Ms. Scoon has exhibited her own documentary filmmaking skills by practicing what she teaches. Her documentary Daring Women Doctors: Physicians in the 19th Century recounts the history of America's first female physicians and was aired nationwide on PBS in 2020.More recently her timely documentary Invisible History: Middle Florida's Hidden Roots is also being aired nationwide on public television in 2021. As a Creative Executive for Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films, as a Story Analyst for Creative Artists Agency and as a Studio Executive for Warner Bros, Ms. Scoon has made a significant contribution to the body of American film culture. Her credits include the Golden Globe nominated "The Great Debaters" starring Denzel Washington. Ms. Scoon's credits also include the movies, "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and "The Wedding" both starring Halle Berry. Ms. Scoon was also instrumental in the adaptation of "Beloved" by the Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, Toni Morrison. In addition, Ms. Scoon in her capacity as Studio Executive at Warner Bros oversaw such films as" Malcolm X" directed by Spike Lee and the children's classic "The Secret Garden."
