Orestis Chalkias
Orestis was born in Athens and raised in Thessaloniki in an artistic family, where both his parents are actors. Subsequently, he caught the acting bug early on and started acting at the age of 7. At 2006 he became the founding member and singer of the hard rock band "Parafernelia". He also plays the guitar and the electric bass and while acting, music has continuously been part of his life. In 2012 he graduated with honors from the Drama School of National Theatre of Northern Greece and during his studies, he attended the movement workshops of Nikolay Karpov of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts and the vocal improvisation seminars of Savina Yannatou. The past decade his presence in the theatre has been unceasing, counting numerous notable collaborations with directors such as Io Voulgaraki in "Wildfire" (based on the play "Incendies" by Wadji Mouawad), Giannis Kalavrianos in "Wuthering Heights", Nikita Milivojevic in "Mother Courage", Thomas Moschopoulos in "Iphigenia in Tauris" (Epidaurus Festival 2015), Michail Marmarinos in "The Empire (I Have your Data)", Giannis Vouros in "Three Musketeers", Dimitris Tarlow in "Eurydice" and "Common Glory, Aris Biniaris in "The Dance of the Fire" and Giorgos Papageorgiou in "Death in Venice". In summer of 2023 he is making his comeback to Epidaurus with the title role of "Hippolytus" under the direction of Katerina Evangelatos. Chalkias has a main role in the TV series "Maestro in Blue" by Christopher Papakaliatis, which is the first Greek production included on Netflix.
