Rudy Martinez
Rudy got his start in TV as a recurring host on "Disney 365," a beloved interstitial program on The Disney Channel, as well as roles on "iCarly" and "Good Luck Charlie". He has had recurring roles on The CW's "Jane The Virgin", ABC's "Speechless", and he played Marty on NBC's medical drama "Heartbeat". He plays Wesley on the hit Netflix show "Dear White People."
Rudy was born and raised in South Pasadena, California and began exploring the arts at a young age, immersing himself in plays and musicals, clowning, and puppetry. He attended UC Santa Barbara and was accepted into the conservatory style acting program where he received a research grant to study physical theater. Inspired by companies like Lunatique Fantastique, Mabou Mines, and the plays of Robert Wilson, he took an interest in hyper-theatrical, multi-disciplinary story-telling.
After college, Rudy began working with renowned theater companies like South Coast Repertory, East West Players, and Independent Shakespeare Company. His performance in "Angel of the Desert" at Studio SCR (produced by Breath of Fire; Latina Theater Ensemble) was called "sensitive and emotionally raw" by the OC Examiner and he won a Best Supporting Actor award for that role. He is also part of the Ovation Award Nominated cast of "Edith Can Shoot Things And Hit Them" produced by Artists At Play.
When he's not acting Rudy enjoys painting, playing his ukulele, and writing plays.
